Heart Disease Diet

The best diet plan for your heart is one that is high in fresh vegetables and low in saturated fats such as red meat. The reason saturated fat is not heart-healthy is because it sticks to the arteries blocking the pathway to the heart. Clogged arteries can lead to heart disease and a host of other illnesses, so it’s important to keep them in good standing. Saturated fat, or unhealthy fat is found in high amounts in beef, pork, butter, and food containing lard. The American Heart Association recommends no more than 5% of daily calories coming from sources of saturated fat.
